Die Tshwane Metro se grassny program vir ons deel van die Moreletaspruit word binnekort gefinaliseer. Die program maak voorsiening vir die baal van die gesnyde gras en dan ook die verwydering van die bale deur die kontrakteurs. Dit is beslis 'n ekstra aangesien die opgehoopte gras in die verlede 'n groot brand gevaar was. Intussen beoog die Raad om sekere voorbrande te maak om as tussentydse maatreël te dien totdat die gras gesny word.

Die trekkers behoort binnekort te rol!!
 

Ekologiese ondersoek en Bestuursplan vir ons gebied

Ons het deurmiddel van die Pretoria Technikon daarin geslaag om 'n ekologiese ondersoek te loots van ons gebied. Dit sluit in die identifisering van die plantegroei en insekte en dierelewe alhier. Die ondersoek het reeds begin en studente van die Technikon het so 'n maand of wat gelede die gebied ingevaar en met hulle opnames begin.

Sodra die ondersoek voltooi is,sal begin word met die Bestuursplan van die omgewing. Dan kan ons 'n behoorlike jaarprogram daar stel, wat u instaat sal stel om sinvol te kom deelneem aan ons aktiwiteite.

We introduced the Technikon lecturer to other Tshwane Friends nature organisations at a Forum meeting held last year. The Technikon offered their services to all – the meeting was quite excited about the opportunity being presented. On behalf of Friends of Moreletaspruit we thank the Pretoria Technikon and in particular Kobus Kotze, for their offer. We look forward to working with them in the creation of a Management Plan.

It seems like an opportunity to provide the Technikon Ecology Department with a trophy or medal for an annual award to the most promising student or similar. It would be a tangible token of our appreciation.

Intussen is ons verheug om te sien dat al hoe meer mense die Spruit se wandelpad gebruik om te stap....dit is u Spruit, geniet die natuur!!

Tshwane Friends Forum

The various Friends and Wildlife organisations meet twice a year under the chairmanship of the Tshwane Conservation Department. It is a very useful Forum for exchanging ideas.

At the last Forum meeting a suggestion was put forward that we create a single umbrella organisation to manage common issues and particularly fund raising.

The proposal came from the Friends of Austin Roberts who have been extremely successful in redeveloping the Bird Sanctuary. Notwithstanding their success, they feel that a larger organisation would have more clout when approaching the Corporate world for funding – and similarly when dealing with political matters.
